Leaves a Legacy of Family Values and Success at Company

MASON, OH – AUGUST 14, 2017 Basco Shower Enclosures, one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of custom shower enclosures, announced the passing of the company’s founder, G. William (Bill) Rohde. Mr Rohde passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017 at the age of 88 years old. He was a loving husband, father and friend, who's memory will live on for many years to come.

Mr Rohde helped pioneer an emerging shower door industry in the 50's and built his own American Dream, as Basco remains a family owned business currently led by Rohde’s son, Mr. George W. Rohde as President & CEO.

Bill’s entrepreneurial journey began after first graduating from Xavier University with a BBA and serving his country in Japan and Korea. At 26 years old and with the help of his father-in-law George T. Schulte and brother-in-law Elmer Kokenge, Bill started the family business. Basco Company, a manufacturer of shower doors, was launched on August 1, 1955.

Bill worked as President for 38 years, then took on the role of CEO and Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 2006. He also served on other boards throughout his career, including The Athenaeum of Ohio and The Midwest Group of Funds.

"My father was a wonderful relationship builder. From the first time you met him, you trusted him and wanted to do business with him,” says George Rohde. "He was always interested in your business success and made you feel the Basco family could help your business grow."

Basco operates out of three locations throughout the U.S. and employs over 300 people.
